Life is sometimes not fair. The Raptors were clearly the top Eastern Conference team all season long and the Cavs were one game away from an April exit. Yet in Game 2 of this East semifinal series, this game proved what everyone knew already about both of these teams when it matters most in May.
The Raptors led for all of the first half. But between the 2nd and 3rd quarters, the Cavs went on an 18-5 run thanks to JR Smith's scoring the first 6 points of the 3rd quarter and the Cavs never gave up the lead since. LeBron James was 19 of 28 from the field and was making highlight-reel type shots throughout the 2nd half.
The other big story coming into the game was about Kevin Love in the starting lineup. Love who hasn't had a standout postseason run heading into today put together a physical 31 point, 11 rebound performance out of the center position.
George Hill (13), JR Smith (15) and Jeff Green (14) also scored in double figures as they caused trouble for the Raptors. DeRozan, Lowry and Valanciunas were the leading scorers for the Raptors with 24, 21 and 16 respectively.
The series shifts to Cleveland for Game 3 this Saturday night as the Cavs look to take a 3-0 series lead against the Raptors.
