St. Martin de Porres dedicates new building

Cleveland - Mayor Frank Jackson and other local politicians and dignitaries were on hand Saturday to dedicate a new school building for Cleveland's St. Martin De Porres High School.

Situated in Cleveland's St. Clair-Superior Neighborhood, the new building is the first school built in that neighborhood in over a century.

St. Martin de Porres was originally founded in 2003 in the St. Clair Superior neighborhood near Saint Vitus Catholic Church, and has about 400 students, many of whom come from families with limited means.

The new, $21-million state-of-the-art building is said to be the first phase of a $30-million investment in the neighborhood.
