CLEVELAND - The shooting was first reported to WTAM 1100 by a witness shortly after it happened.

Caller/Witness "John", says he saw the shooting while driving down Euclid Avenue near, or on, East 36th Street, around 3 p.m. Thursday.

According to the witness, a white male was walking down the sidewalk with a backpack and cellphone when the suspect jumped over a wall, grabbed the man's phone and an altercation ensued. It reportedly ended with the suspect shooting the victim twice in the side, before fleeing on foot and jumping into a silver car and driving away.

The suspect is described as a black male, standing 5'8" to 5'9" tall, wearing sagging jeans and a hoodie.  The vehicle is silver, possibly a Honda Civic or of similar size and make, with a dent in the passenger-side rear panel.

Sergeant Jennifer Ciaccia with the Cleveland Division of Police has just confirmed the incident and added that the victim is now in surgery at MetroHealth Medical Center and is listed in critical condition.
