Opening Day To Be Jammed Packed With Activities

(Cleveland) - If you are headed to the Cleveland Indians home opener April 6 at Progressive Field against Kansas City, you will want to be in your seats well ahead of the 4:10 first pitch.  

A variety of activities will play out before the game starts.  Gates open at 2 O'clock the day of the game. The Indians will celebrate their 2017 American League Central Division title with a pennant unveiling.  

The team will also be recognized for its' historic 22 game winning streak while Corey Kluber is honored for his Cy Young Award and Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez are recognized for their Silver Slugger Awards. 

Rocky River native, 17-year old Red Gerard, will toss out the first pitch.  He became the youngest slopestyle snowboard champion winning the Gold Medal at the PyeongChang Olympics in February. 

The Indians will also honor the United States Military before the game as a giant American flag will be unfurled on the field.  This home opener marks the 25th such event at Progressive Field.
