GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The present and the future both shined for the Indians on Monday, but the Tribe still fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 7-6 at Maryvale Ballpark. The loss dropped the Indians Cactus League exhibition record to 1-2-1 on the spring.
The present, Josh Tomlin, pitched two scoreless innings, only allowing one hit and striking out two throwing only 12 pitched in the process. Tomlin was so quick and efficient that he finished up his day throwing in the bullpen. Tomlin was slated for 35 pitches on Monday.
The future, Francisco Mejía, ripped a 2-run home run in the 5th inning to tie the game at 4-4 and Giovanny Urshela had an RBI double to give Cleveland a 5-4 lead in that same frame.
The Brewers added three late runs to eventually top the Tribe.
