(Cuyahoga County) - An elderly woman is dead after an early morning house fire in Maple Heights.
The blaze started in a home near the corner of James Avenue and East 146th Street. The victim passed away after she was transported to a local hospital.
Investigators say the 100 year old woman was trapped on the second floor. A second resident was able to escape the flames.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The State Fire Marshal is assisting in the probe, and brought in a fire sniffing dog to search for clues.
