(Cleveland) - Jury selection began today at the Christopher Whitaker trial.
The 44 year old convicted sex offender is charged with the murder of Alianna DeFreeze, who's body was found in an abandoned building on Cleveland's southeast side last winter.
Investigators say the 14 year old had suffered multiple injuries, and that claim Whitaker is connected to the crime by DNA evidence.
She vanished while on her way to school.
Jury selection is expected to continue for much of the week before opening arguments begin. Whitaker could get the death penalty if he's found guilty.
