Wicked weather hampers NE Ohio drivers

Cleveland - Unrelenting snow squalls have been pummeling the primary and secondary snow belt areas of northeast Ohio Saturday afternoon.

Emergency officials and media sources report at least three major accidents are being blamed on the weather.

The Ohio Turnpike is the scene of multiple cars involved in crashes near Mile Marker 162.7 in the Broadview Heights area.

Several lanes are still blocked.

Earlier Saturday afternoon, there was a three-car accident with injuries that closed Route 84 in Concord Township.

The road has now been reopened.

There are reports of a multi-car crash on Route 2 near the Grand River Bridge in Lake County.

The speed limit on I-90 has been reduced to 40 miles per hour between State Route 44 and State Route 528 because of the weather.

Erie County, Ohio is under a Level 2 snow emergency.

There's a Lake Effect Snow Warning in effect for Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties until 4:00AM Sunday, and a Winter Weather Advisory for Cuyahoga County, especially the snow belt areas to the south and east.
