Westlake police: Overnight standoff ends safely

Westlake - Police spent the better part of the early morning hours Saturday trying to talk a distraught man holed up inside a home into giving himself up.

It all started when a man visiting from Virginia reported that his 33-year-old brother was intoxicated and acting irrationally at the home on Wyndgate Court.

When officers arrived, they were able to get the Virginia man and a sister out of the home without incident, but the man's 52 year old mother was too afraid to come out and locked herself in a bathroom.

At one point two neighboring houses were evacuated.

SWAT officers were able to safely get the mother out around 3:18AM, and at 4:24AM, hostage negotiators ended the home and the suspect surrendered.

Westlake police say Ramone Boyd is facing charges of domestic violence.

Officers say while he did not strike anyone, threats were made.

They found the home in disarray with broken dishware and overturned furniture.

They also recovered two guns.
