Worker Killed In Accident At Meat Packing Plant

CANTON - A man was killed, late Saturday afternoon, in an industrial accident at the Fresh Mark meat-processing plant in Canton.

According to Canton Police, 62 yr-old Samuel Martinez stepped into a chute and got caught in a waste grinder.

In a statement Saturday evening, a company spokesperson said the companies "primary concern rests with the well being of this employee’s family, as well as with the safety and well being of all employees in the Canton and other Fresh Mark facilities."

This isn't the first time a worker has been killed at the plant.

Back in 2011, a worker at the plant was electrocuted when he tried to plug in a fan while standing in water.

Fresh Mark sells bacon, ham, hot dogs and deli meats under the Superior's and Sugardale brands.
