Lorain councilman apologizes for conduct

Angel Arroyo

(Lorain) - City councilman Angel Arroyo knows he let a lot of people down with his alcohol-fueled conduct this past weekend.

Arroyo apologized about his disorderly conduct arrest, calling it an embarrassment to his family, friends and community.

Arroyo was arrested after a night of drinking to celebrate his birthday turned into yelling at a friend's house and making it difficult for police to arrest him.

Arroyo says he doesn't blame Lorain Police for doing their job, and that there are no hard feelings. He's promising to work to restore the trust he had with family, friends, and the community.

The councilman made his first court appearance this morning, and was in the courtroom on crutches. A not guilty plea was entered during his arraignment. Municipal Judge Thomas Elwell Jr. set a pretrial hearing for Jan. 17 at 1 p.m.
