Winter approaching, City Says It's Ready

(Cleveland) - The City of Cleveland says it is ready to handle whatever conditions present themselves this Winter.

In a Friday morning news conference, City Public Works Director Michael Cox said the city has 122 snow plow drivers at the ready to hit the roads when the snow hits.

Among them, seventy-one drivers of the big city plows and fifteen drivers of picks-up with plows.  The city also has thirteen road graters to put on the streets to break up heavy snowfall.

Director Cox says they always clear Cleveland's 54 main roadways first before clearing snow from the city's secondary roads.

The city has 24-thousand tons of salt currently on hand for the season with the ability to purchase another 55-thousand tons, if necessary.
