(Cuyahoga County) - Neighbors are shaken with the realization that the suspect in the murder of a longtime Strongsville teacher was poised to become part of her family.
Police say Jeffrey Scullin Jr. shot and stabbed Melinda Pleskovic in the home they shared on Blazing Star Drive.
Scullin was scheduled to marry Pleskovic's daughter just days after the murder.
Neighbors Newsradio WTAM 1100 spoke to are surprised at the arrest, and never thought Scullin was capable of committing such a gruesome crime.
However, one admitted that there's always a "bad egg" in the bunch. another doesn't believe Scullin acted alone.
Others wonder if Melinda discovered something about Scullin that would have caused daughter Anna to cancel their wedding.
All say it was sickening that Scullin was actually a pallbearer at Melinda's funeral, but they are confident Strongsville Police are on the right track.
Scullin was arrested yesterday and sits in jail under a $1 million bond.
