(Cleveland) - Cleveland and Cuyahoga County law enforcers are trying to track down robbers who have repeatedly struck two CVS Stores on the city's west side.
Prosecutor Michael O'Malley says The CVS store on West Blvd. near Lorain Avenue has been robbed 24 times, since March 3, and the CVS store on the corner of Madison and West Blvd. has been robbed 32 times since July.
O'Malley says teens and young adults stormed the stores, overwhelming the unarmed security guard, terrorizing employees, and stuffing garbage bags with looted goods.
He says it appears to be the same individuals. Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 216-252-7463 or First District police detectives at 216-623-5118.
O'Malley says the thefts are causing tens of thousands of dollars in losses, and might be placing the viability of the stores in jeopardy.
Councilwoman Dona Brady says the neighborhood can't afford to lose the two CVS stores, because many residents are not able to shop anywhere else.
The store also provide neighborhood employment, but now many workers there fear for their safety.
There's also concern that if the robbers continue to be successful, such heists may spread to other stores around the city.
