Youngstown Fire Dept Battalion Chief Killed

YOUNGSTOWN (AP) - A Battalion Chief with the Youngstown Fire Department has died following a two-vehicle crash Friday in Ashtabula County.

64 year-old Ronald Russo, passed away at University Hospitals in Cleveland.

He sustained fatal injuries after his motorcycle collided with a Dodge Caravan at the intersection of state route 45 and North Bend Road in Saybrook Township.

According to his fellow firefighters, Russo dedicated his life and career to saving people in emergencies,   calling him a leader.

The Ohio State Patrol says alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors, but the crash remains under investigation.

Russo is survived by his wife, four children and two stepchildren.
