Cop union endorses Zack Reed for mayor

Zack Reed

(Cuyahoga County) - The Cleveland mayor's race is intensifying. Councilman Zack Reed has received the endorsement of the city's police union.

The Cleveland Police Patrolmens Association cites Reed's concern for rising violent crime in the city. Reed has promised to hire 400 new officers if he is elected.

The union has also been very critical of Mayor Frank Jackson in the past.

Meanwhile, Jackson has placed the spotlight on Reed's past DUI convictions in a campaign radio commercial.

Reed's response to the commercials is that he is sober now and Jackson's move is out of desperation. The general election is set for November 7th.
