CLEVELAND – Week 4 of the NFL season kicked off with the Green Bay Packers dismantling the Chicago Bears 35-14 on Thursday Night Football. “Picks With Nick” did not have a selection for Thursday’s divisional clash at Lambeau Field, but we are fresh off our hottest week of the 2017 football season going 8-2 (80%) ATS last week in college football and NFL (for entertainment purposes only, of course).

A quick glance at our numbers on the season against the Vegas spread:

CFB: 10-9-1 (53%)

NFL: 8-4 (67%)

Total: 18-13-1 (58%)

Our picks are made against Las Vegas oddsmakers merely helping create football interactions on Facebook and Twitter, as well as online and on-air content for Newsradio WTAM 1100 and WTAM.com.

Similar to last football season, our goal is to win 53% of our picks against the spread. Las Vegas sports books, give us 11/10 odds or -110, so in order to break even in picking games against the spread (ATS) we must win 52.4% of the games we select. Winning 58% of picks ATS would place you among the most elite sports handicappers in the world. We’ll shoot for somewhere between 53% - 58% again this season.

We are again keeping our college and NFL selections separate, but we will update the results weekly with full transparency seeing how we stack up against the Las Vegas oddsmakers. We are coming off a winning first season in which we hit 54% ATS in college football and NFL combined in 2016.

“Picks With Nick” will also feature a radio segment weekly on Newsradio WTAM 1100 discussing our selections.

Below is our full slate for the NFL featuring four selections ATS for Week 4:

Game: New Orleans Saints vs. Miami Dolphins

Where: Wembley, England – Wembley Stadium

Kickoff: 9:30 pm ET

TV: FOX

Spread: Saints -3

Nick’s Pick: We hope this isn’t merely an overreaction to what we saw last weekend, where the Dolphins lost to the tanking New York Jets while the Saints went on the road and crushed the Carolina Panthers…but, it’s difficult to look past it. Drew Brees and the Saints’ air attack will be too much for a Dolphins team that may be ending their honeymoon stage with Jay Cutler. Nick’s Pick is Saints -3.

Game: Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns

Where: Cleveland, Ohio – FirstEnergy Stadium

Kickoff: 1:00 pm ET

TV: CBS

Spread: Bengals -3

Nick’s Pick: Not sure there has even been a situation where taking a road team, minus-points that happens to be winless is ever a good idea, but when they are playing the Cleveland Browns off a strong performance in Green Bay, we will make this one-time exception. Nick’s Pick is Bengals -3.

Game: Philadelphia Eagles vs. Los Angeles Chargers

Where: Carson, California – StubHub Center

Kickoff: 4:05 pm ET

TV: FOX

Spread: Chargers -1.5

Nick’s Pick: This game smells. How on earth are the 0-3 Chargers favored at home against what appears to be a very solid Eagles team that comes into this showdown at 2-1 on the season? We may be overthinking here, but Philip Rivers may have a memorable game up his sleeve, finally. Nick’s Pick will ride the Chargers -1.5.

Game: New York Giants vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Where: Tampa, Florida – Raymond James Stadium

Kickoff: 4:05 pm ET

TV: FOX

Spread: Buccaneers -3

Nick’s Pick: Why are the Buccaneers not bigger favorites at home hosting a winless Giants team? Vegas knows something. Eli Manning and the G-Men finally get their first W and easily cover this 3-point spread. Nick’s Pick is Giants +3.
