CLEVELAND (AP) — The son of a fire chief in suburban Cleveland has been indicted on charges that he raped an 8-year-old boy.Court records say 21-year-old Thomas Gilman was a friend of the boy's family and often babysat him. Gilman is charged with rape and kidnapping in connection with two incidents dating back to September 2014.
Records indicate he is the son of Lakewood Fire Chief Scott Gilman. Thomas Gilman's attorney told Cleveland.com the case has nothing to do with his father. Scott Gilman did not return messages seeking comment. The lawyer says Thomas Gilman will plead not guilty and "see where the facts take us." He is due in court Sept. 6.
