Former township employee arrested for theft

(Akron) - On August 1, 2017, Northfield Center Township Trustees reported the theft of a two credit cards by a former township employee.  

Sheriff's detectives, with the cooperation of the Northfield Center Township Trustees, investigated and determined former employee Rosemary Barrett, age 55, of Macedonia, Ohio used the credit card to purchase a hotel room in North Carolina for a wedding and school supplies for her children.  

The total was approximately $1,900.00.  One credit card belonged to Northfield Center Township and the other belonged to the Northfield Center/Sagamore Hills Joint Fire District.

Barrett formerly was employed by the Northfield Center/Sagamore Hills Joint Fire District in January of 2012 as a Fiscal Officer.  

When the fire district ceased operations in September of 2016, Barrett was hired by Northfield Center Township Trustees in a temporary capacity to close out the finances of the fire district with respect to Northfield Center Township.  

Barrett was arrested for Theft, a felony, and was booked into the Summit County Jail.  The case remains under investigation by the Summit County Sheriff's Office.
