Remains found in lake off Willowick being tested

Cleveland - The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner says it's premature to conclude that remains found in Willowick are tied to a deadly plane crash off Cleveland last December.

Spokesman Hugh Shannon released a statement Friday evening:

"The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner Office has received human remains from Lake County, recovered from Lake Erie.

Any speculation that this is tied to the December accident is premature and unconfirmed.

DNA testing is underway on these remains and results will be available in a few weeks.

These will be communicated to the appropriate parties before release to the public.

The Medical Examiner has been in touch with family from the plane accident as well as other investigating agencies to keep them apprised of events and progress.

No further information is available on this matter at this time."

The remains were found in the lake behind a Willowick home this week.
