Savage gunman kills uncle in front of nephews

(Cleveland) - On Thursday, June 15, 2017 at approximately 7:20pm, officers responded to Gawron Park at E. 136/Harvard for a male shot.  

Officers report, the victim was located lying on the ground unresponsive, and was pronounced deceased by EMS on scene.  

Homicide investigators learned that the victim, 27 year old Aramis Roey was at the park playing basketball with his two juvenile nephews, when an argument began between with an older male. 

Detectives believe Roey intervened in the argument at which point the suspect attempted to engage victim in a fight.  

Roey refused to fight and walked away, and after retrieving his property from the playground area, the suspect pulled a handgun and shot him twice before walking over him and shooting him a third time.  

Suspect, described as a black male 18-to-20 years of age, and fled in an unknown direction as everyone in the park began running for cover. 

Cleveland Police are urging anyone with information regarding this homicide to contact investigators at 216-623-5464.
