Strongsville Crash Into Tree Kills 16-Year-Old Girl

(Strongsville) - One teenager is dead and three others are hospitalized after a car went off the road and struck a tree (photo) in the the 22000 block of Albion Road in Strongsville Wednesday night.

16-year-old Kailee Mayher was killed in the crash.  Strongsville Police say she was ejected from the vehicle, and was pronounced dead on arrival at Southwest General Hospital.

16-year-old Katie Carroll and 15-year-old Sarah Attar were both injured and were taken to Southwest General.  15-year-old Alyssa Collins was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center.   All three of those girls were in the back seat of the vehicle.

The driver, 16-year-old Sydney Rosenthal, was not injured, nor was the front seat passenger, 16-year-old Morgan Dabran. 

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. 

In a written statement, Strongsville superintendent Cameron Ryba said the school community is devastated.  Counselors will be available at Strongsville High School through the beginning of next week.

This is the third deadly crash involving young drivers in Greater Cleveland in recent weeks.  A Midview student lost her life in a prom night crash while two teens in Chardon lost their lives this week. 

Triple-A recently released a study which found teen drivers are three times more likely to be involved in a deadly crash between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
