Will Jerry Springer run for Governor of Ohio?

President Obama Discusses Economy At Cincinnati Campaign Event

(Cleveland) - Some Ohio Democrats are urging Jerry Springer to run for governor of Ohio.

The longtime television talk show has a degree in political science, was a two term mayor of Cincinnati, and ran for governor in 1982 but lost.

Springer did have several scandals, including being caught paying for a prostitute.

Case Western Reserve University Political Science Professor Justin Buchler says if Springer decides to run again for governor, it would mirror Donald Trump's presidential campaign, with another celebrity with scandals seeking higher office.

However, Buchler says Springer may have the edge with governmental experience, but his name recognition would not be as fresh in the minds of voters as Trump's was.

Buchler tells Newsradio WTAM 1100, Democrats would have a stronger campaign by nominating someone in their congressional delegation.
