CLEVELAND, OH - Cleveland City Councilman Jeff Johnson's campaign for mayor is allowed to go on.
The Cuyahoga County Board of Elections denied the protest of Johnson's candidacy by a citizen claiming Johnson is disqualified because he has a felony conviction for extortion.
Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh weighed in, writing in an opinion that although Johnson was convicted, he has been restored to competency and his felony didn't include bribery which would disqualify him from holding office.
