(Warren, Ohio) – Former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, who died Thursday, had ties to northeast Ohio.
Ailes was born and raised in Warren. Ailes attended Warren City Schools, and graduated from Warren Harding High School in 1958. He is one of five members of the Class of 1958 to be inducted into the Warren City Schools Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.
Ailes later went to Ohio University, where he majored in radio and television. In 2008, a student radio and TV newsroom at OU was named in his honor, but his name was removed from the newsroom after his departure from Fox News following allegations of sexual improprieties involving female staffers.
His first TV job was in Cleveland at what was then KYW-TV (now WKYC-TV), working as a producer for the Mike Douglas Show. When production of that show moved from Cleveland to Philadelphia, Ailes moved there as well.
