Lordstown GM Plant To Cut More Jobs

(Lordstown) – America’s love affair with the SUV is bad news for the largest auto manufacturing plant in Northeast Ohio.

Workers at the General Motors Lordstown complex were told Thursday that, likely in mid-July, there will be more layoffs at the plant, as production of the Chevrolet Cruze sedan is cut back to meet consumer demand.  The number of layoffs has not been announced.

In January, GM eliminated the third shift at Lordstown because of lagging sales of the Cruze, the only vehicle built in Lordstown.  1,000 jobs were eliminated with that end to the third shift.
