UPDATE: Streetsboro Father Indicted For Executing Accused Dirt Bike Thief

(STREETSBORO) - A Streetsboro concealed weapons permit holder is accused of playing judge, jury and executioner as he tried to get back his son-in-law's stolen dirt bike.  Today, a Summit County Grand Jury returned an indictment against William Knight, 63, of Lady Catherine Street in Streetsboro, in connection with the shooting death of 24-year-old Keith Johnson.

The Summit County Grand Jury indicted Knight on the following charges:

  • Two Counts of Murder, each with a Gun Specification – both Special Felonies
  • Two Counts of Felonious Assault, each with a Gun Specification – felonies of the 2nd degree

In the evening of March 20, 2017, Knight shot Johnson once in the head after a dispute over the dirt bike.  The shooting happened as Knight accompanied his son-in-law to meet a man who they thought was selling a dirt bike that had been stolen from the son-in-law's garage in February 2016.  Johnson had been trying to sell the bike on a social media site.  It's not clear if it was the same bike that was stolen, and after an argument, Knight told police Johnson tried to ride away on the bike and drove it toward him and his family.

Knight is scheduled to be arraigned in Summit County Common Pleas Court on Wednesday April 19, 2017.
