Three vehicles torched in Avon Lake

(Lorain County) - Avon Lake police are trying to find the vandals that torched three vehicles and several mailboxes.

The investigation began Wednesday when officers responded to calls about a loud noise on Fay Avenue near Division and Vineyard Roads.

Detective Sgt. Reed Reikowski says officers arrived at a home on Fay Avenue to find a Honda Civic burning in a driveway.

Later that day, they discovered fire damage to a Ford F-150 on Stoney Brook Drive Avenue. This morning, officers found a vehicle on Greenbriar Drive with fire damage.

Reikowski tells Newsradio WTAM 1100, investigators are collecting evidence in hopes of determining how the fires were set.

There are no suspects, and it's possible the incidents could be related. Anyone with information should call the Avon Lake Police Detective Bureau at 440-933-2211.

Reikowski urges residents to call with any tips no matter how insignificant it may seem, because it could prove valuable to a trained detective.
