Streetsboro Father Executes Accused Dirt Bike Thief

(STREETSBORO) - A Streetsboro father is accused of shooting another man in the head after seeing his son-in-law's stolen dirt bike show up for sale online.  Akron police say the shooting happened shortly before 8:00 p.m. last night, and officers found the victim shot in the head in the middle of Danmead Avenue.

It started, according to police, when William M. Knight, 63, accompanied his son-in-law to meet up with the man they said stole a dirt bike out of a garage, then tried to sell if online.  The son-in-law set up the meeting, and police say Knight confronted the man, argued with him, and then shot him in the head.

Knight, a CCW permit holder, told police he felt the accused thief was a threat.  Police say the 24-year-old victim tried to ride away on the dirt bike and rode toward Knight.  Knight was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and felonious assault.
