Lakewood Teachers Get Two-Year Contract Extension

(Lakewood) – A two-year contract extension for teachers in the Lakewood City Schools has been approved unanimously by the Lakewood Board of Education.  The contract had already been approved by members of the Lakewood Teachers Association.

The two-year extension will run through July 31, 2020.  Lakewood teachers will receive a 2.5% base salary increase in the 2018-19 school year.  A similar increase in the 2019-20 school  year will depend on the Lakewood district’s funding level in the next state budget.

If the Lakewood schools have their state funding cut by more than $200,000 in the budget currently under consideration by the Ohio Legislature, then the agreement with Lakewood’s teachers will expire on July 31, 2019, and both sides will meet again regarding a possible extension.

The extension includes a new health care option with a higher deductible, but the employee contribution for health care remains at 15%.
