MESA, Ariz. – Danny Salazar is healthy and the Indians hard-throwing righty is excited for the 2017 season. On Sunday Salazar made his Cactus League debut going two strong innings, only allowing one hit and a walk while striking out three.
The Indians and Cubs met in a Cactus League exhibition game playing to a 1-1 tie in their first meeting since the 2016 World Series that saw Chicago win their first title since 1908.
The Indians are now 1-0-1 in Cactus League play while the Cubs went to 1-1-1 in spring training.
The Tribe is back in Cactus League action on Monday afternoon at Goodyear Ballpark when they welcome in the Texas Rangers in what could be a Mike Napoli reunion with former Indians teammates. Napoli signed a one-year $8.5 million deal with the Rangers this off-season.
