(Cleveland) – Cuyahoga County Council, on Tuesday, holds its first discussion on plans to borrow $140 million for expansion and renovation of Quicken Loans Arena.
The Cleveland Cavaliers, the county, and the city of Cleveland are pushing for the upgrade, saying The Q is one of the oldest NBA arenas without a major upgrade, and not doing so will keep major acts from being booked.
The overall cost of the project will be $282 million, with the rest being provided by the Cavs, the city of Cleveland, the county, and from local bed taxes.
The discussion at 2:00 p.m. at the County Administration Building is a committee of the whole meeting. No vote on borrowing the bonds will be taken on Tuesday.
