CLEVELAND, OH - The man accused of kidnapping and killing a Cleveland teenager has been formally charged.
Christopher Whitaker, 44, was indicted for the murder of 14-year-old Alianna DeFreeze on Monday.
Whitaker was charged with four counts of Aggravated Murder, two counts of Kidnapping, and one count each of Rape, Aggravated Burglary, Tampering with Evidence and Gross Abuse of a Corpse.
"This defendant snatched a 14-year-old child off the street and brutally murdered her,” said Cuyahoga County ProsecutorMichael O’Malley. “The facts of this case together with his violent criminal history compels this Office to seek the death penalty.”
