(Cuyahoga County) - A sign language interpreter for the Parma City Schools faced a judge today, accused of sexual misconduct.
Police say 25-year-old Ashley Mason had inappropriate contact with a Parma High School student several times over the past month.
Mason is charged with sexual battery. The city prosecutor claims she had sex with a 14 year old student at the Metroparks Big Creek Parkway.
Mason appeared in Parma Muncipal Court wearing a blue jail jumpsuit.
Defense attorney Patrick Leary asked for and received a low bond, maintaining that his client had never been in a trouble before.
The prosecution did not object, and Judge Timothy Gilligan set bond at $5,000 and sent the case to the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury.
Mason could get up to 5 year in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000 if found guilty.
She was contracted to the Parma Schools through the Educational Service Center of Cuyahoga County.
