Funeral Set For Alianna DeFreeze

(Cleveland) - Funeral arrangements have been set for 14-year-old Alianna DeFreeze, whose body was found in an abandoned house on the east side.

According to a Facebook page set up by the family, her funeral and wake will be Saturday at the New Spirit Revival Center on Mayfield Road in Cleveland Heights.

Alianna's death was ruled a homicide from "multiple injuries."  Suspect Christopher Whitaker is being held on a charge of aggravated murder, and his bond was set Saturday at $3 million.

Meanwhile, a group of Cleveland pastors is hoping to spare more children the same fate as Alianna. The group is launching the "Safe Streets" program by walking with students to E Prep and Village Prep, where Alianna attended classes.  The program will eventually expand to schools in the city's most-blighted neighborhoods.
