Hundreds Turn Out For Fallen Officer's Viewing

(CLEVELAND) - The Cleveland police officer killed by a hit-and-run driver on Tuesday morning will be laid to rest on Saturday. In his obituary, family wrote that Officer David Fahey Jr. was a "devoted public servant to the citizens of the City of Cleveland," and also a "proud graduate of St. Edward High School Class of 1995." Fahey also served in the U.S. Navy.  Today, his friends, family and law enforcement brothers lined up outside the Chambers Funeral Home of North Olmstead on Lorain Road (pictured below).

He will be laid to rest on Saturday, January 28th after a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Angels Church (3644 Rocky River Dr., Cleveland). Fahey will be interred at Brooklyn Heights Cemetery.

The man who police said was driving the car that killed Fahey will be in court on Thursday morning.  Israel Alvarez, 44, was taken into custody in Lorain on Tuesday afternoon and was charged on Wednesday for Aggravated Vehicular Homicide and Felony Hit Skip.
