Cleveland Police Officer Arrested For Beating, Raping Girlfriend

(CLEVELAND) - Cleveland Police are identifying the police officer charged with brutally beating and raping his girlfriend at gunpoint.  Sergeant Jennifer Ciaccia said in a statement that Tommie Griffin, 51, was arrested.  He is a patrol officer with the Cleveland Division of Police and was hired on February 1, 1994.  He's been suspended without pay while the criminal case is ongoing.

Parma police said that Griffin was taken to Parma Jail on charges of Felonious Assault, Domestic Violence, and Rape.  On Saturday, January 14, 2017 at approximately 12:00pm, Parma Police said they got a call to check on a woman in the 7000 block of State Road.  The victim told police that during the early morning hours of January 14th, her boyfriend, Griffin, entered her bedroom and attacked her while she was sleeping. The victim said he pointed a gun at her and hit her in the face several times with his hands and his gun, then fired several shots with the gun next to her, but didn't shoot her.  He then sexually assaulted her and left her beaten and bloodied until police arrived.

Parma Police later arrested Griffin at a business in North Royalton.
