Indians Hold Off Halos, Sweep Series

Francisco Lindor hit a two-run homer in the second inning as the Indians built a 4-0 lead and held on to beat the Angels 4-3 in Anaheim. Carlos Santana smacked a solo shot in the first for Cleveland, which swept the three-game series. Carlos Carrasco picked up the win in relief and Adam Cimber notched his first save. Shohei Ohtani and Kole Calhoun hit homers for the Halos, who have lost four in-a-row and eight of 10. Dillon Peters permitted four runs in three frames to fall to 3-and-3.

With the Indians win, they pull within to four games of the Twins,who lost to the Nationals 6-2, in the AL Central before the two teams kick off a weekend series at Progressive Field on Friday night. On the wild card front the Tribe remains a half game back of the Oakland Athletics for the 2nd wild card spot, as the A's beat the Astros 5-3, and now the Indians are only one game behind the Rays for the first wild card spot as they lose to the Rangers 10-9.
