The Thanksgiving holiday is upon us. Americans from coast to coast will be spending time with family and friends over the annual holiday feast and, in many instances, NFL football on the television.
Forty-six million turkeys are slaughtered in the United States every year for the Thanksgiving holiday. In the U.S., upwards of 245 million turkeys are killed and packaged for sale annually.
Turkeys are not just a popular item on Thanksgiving. Twenty-two million turkeys will be consumed on Christmas in the U.S. while another 19 million will be eaten over the Easter holiday.
