(Washington) - Senate Republicans are breathing a sigh of relief after Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh cleared a key procedural hurdle Friday.
Senators voted to cut off debate and proceed to a confirmation vote for the veteran federal judge. The vote was 51-to-49.
A Confirmation vote is expected Saturday or Sunday. Alaska's Lisa Murkowski was the only Republican to vote 'no' on the procedural vote. West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin voted 'yes' Friday.
Murkowski and Manchin have not revealed how they will vote on confirmation.
