Guardians Lose Season Finale 5-2

DETRIOT, MI--- The 2023 Guardians season and the Tito Francona era in Cleveland is over as the Guardians lost the Tigers at Comerica Park 5-2 Sunday afternoon. It was a very emotional game both for Guardians fans and Tigers fans, as this was the farewell game for future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera. Cabrera would have people speak on his behalf postgame, and also getting a giant standing ovation in both the bottom of the 7th and top of the 8th innings. He would go to the plate for his last at bat of his illustrious MLB career in the 7th, then go out to unexpectedly play first base in the 8th inning, making a great back handed pay to get Steven Kwan out at first, this was when both dugouts stood on the field, his family came onto the filed, and many others as Cabrera got a much deserved moment at Comerica Park.

The Tigers were up to a 2-0 lead early, with a Kerry Carpenter RBI single in the first, and a Javier Baez groundout that allowed Akil Baddoo to score in the 2nd. The Tigers would get their 3rd run in 3 innings with a Andy Ibanez single to get the Tigers out to a 3-0 lead. The Guardians would get their only 2 runs of the game in the 4th and 5th innings. Brayan Rocchio would have a ground out RBI and Tyler Freeman would have a Tyler Freeman solo home run. Detroit would answer Freeman's home run with a Matt Vierling 2 run shot that would put the game a t5-2.

I can speak for Guardians fans all over the country and world when I say, thank you for all the memories through these 11 years Tito, you will be dearly missed as manager of the Cleveland Guardians.

Thank You, Tito
