CLEVELAND, OH -- After their first matchup at the FedEx Forum with the Cavaliers losing by 1, Cleveland came into tonight's game with a chip on their shoulder beating out the Grizzlies 123-113. Key contributors for Cleveland tonight include Darius Garland with a cool 32-point performance along with 11 assists, followed by a pair of double doubles by Cavs big men Mobley and Allen. For the Grizzlies, Ja Morant finished with 24-8-8, and Desmond Bane with a 25-point night.
Darius Garland took over this game from the beginning starting with a 14-point first quarter, along with Mobley who was crashing the boards from the beginning with 8 rebounds in the first, the two really setting the tone for the game. By the end of the first half things were really clicking for Cleveland in all aspects of the game, Garland continued his dominant play with 19-points with just as many assists as the entire Memphis team combined with 9.
Down at the half Memphis came out of the locker room swinging, getting hot with a 7-0 run. Any momentum they gained at this point was snuffed out following a scuffle between Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell and Grizzlies Dillon Brooks, eventually causing both to be ejected from this game midway through the 3rd. Following this incident, the Cavaliers got cooking and never looked back, a big part of the game was Cedi Osman who dropped 21-points off the bench shooting 50% from the arc, passing J.R. Smith for the 5th all-time leader in 3 pointers made in Cavaliers history.
Next up for the Cavs will be Sunday against the Pacers in Indianapolis with tipoff at 5 pm you can catch the game on WTAM.
