A lawsuit claiming the use of excessive force is being filed against the City of Akron.
The city's independent police auditor last year determined that Police Officer Thomas Shoemaker used unjustified force when he arrested Dierra Fields in January of last year.
Shoemaker reportedly body-slammed the woman during her arrest.
Shoemaker and two others are also named as defendants in the suit.
