An international flight from Detroit, Michigan, to Amsterdam, had to make an emergency landing in New York City because passengers were served spoiled food.
Delta flight 136 was diverted to John F. Kennedy Airport after two dozen people reported feeling sick after eating the spoiled food. Delta Air Lines did not say what food was spoiled or how many people ate it.
Paramedics were waiting at the airport when the plane landed just after 4 a.m. on Wednesday (July 3).
"There were 24 aided cases upon landing, including 10 members of the flight crew and 14 passengers, all of whom declined to receive medical attention," a Port Authority spokesperson told the Daily Mail.
A Delta spokesperson said the airline has launched an investigation into the incident and is working with its food suppliers to ensure that no other spoiled food is served during flights.
"This is not the service Delta is known for, and we sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and delay in their travels," a Delta spokesperson said.
