(Parma) - Funeral arrangements and calling hours have been set for Julian "JuJu" Wood, the 3-year-old boy who was stabbed by a woman outside the North Olmsted Giant Eagle, and died hours later at the hospital.
His calling hours will be Friday, June 7, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Ripepi Funeral Home, at Pearl and Snow Roads in Parma. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, June 8, 11 a.m., at St Charles Borromeo Church on Ridge Road in Parma.
Julian was survived by his parents, his brother and sister, and three grandparents.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, that people make donations to a GoFundMe account set up by family and friends. As of 12 noon Thursday, June 6, the account has raised over $180,000.
Thursday afternoon, the Wood family asked the public to take part in what they call a "memory line" along the route from the funeral to Julian's final resting place at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted. Since he loved dinosaurs and the color green, people are being asked to flood streets with the color green and plenty of dinosaurs.
The funeral procession should leave St. Charles Borromeo about 11:45 a.m. and follow this route:
- North on Ridge Road
- West on Snow Road
- North on Smith (West 150th)
- West on Brookpark Road
- South on Great Northern Boulevard, which becomes Columbia Road
- Ends at Sunset Memorial Park, 6625 Columbia Road, North Olmsted
On Monday, June 3, Julian was in a shopping cart, being pushed by his mother, Margo, as she was leaving the Giant Eagle. An unknown woman came up to them, using a stolen knife to stab Julian multiple times. Margo was also stabbed as she tried to get Julian out of the shopping cart. The accused stabber was arrested and has been indicted by a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury.
