(Cleveland) The Ohio Department of Transportation on Tuesday unveiled its construction project list for 2024. Among the 248 projects in northeast Ohio is pavement replacement on I-90 on Cleveland's west side. ODOT District 12 Construction Engineer Jason Young said the work, to begin this summer, will reduce eastbound lanes of the highway from four down to three, in addition to 28-day ramp closures. The four-year project will cost nearly $140 million.

Young said that crews will also begin pavement replacement and bridge repair on I-490 between I-77 and I-71. That will also include lane reductions and ramp closures over the three years that it will take to complete.

In Akron, District Four Public Information Officer Ray Marsch said that work continues on the Route 8 hi-level bridge replacement. That project is slated for completion by the end of summer 2028. And the beltway project work is due to be finished next year with all of the ramp closures related to the project should be lifted by late fall of this year.

The total cost of all of the construction projects is $1.7 billion. 193 of the projects are new for 2024. 32 are safety projects aimed at reducing serious or deadly crashes. 60 of the projects are bridge and culvert improvements.
