The first-ever transplant of a pig's kidney into a living human patient has been completed in Boston.
The genetically-modified kidney was given to 62-year-old Rick Slayman last Saturday. Doctors believe it will last about two years.
He is reportedly recovering well and will be discharged soon.
Pigs have previously been used for human skin grafts, heart valves, and in two cases, full heart transplants.
