(Cuyahoga Heights) - Cuyahoga Heights Schools sent students home Thursday after some alarming threats were made as students were arriving to school in the morning. The district is saying someone made calls threatening to bomb the district's middle school and high school, Cleveland's FOX 8 reports.
Some middle school students were already at school and were either picked up by their parents or bused home. Elementary students in the district were on buses on their way to school, so drivers were asked to drop them off back home once they received word of the threat.
The district says local police swept the area and found no evidence of anything dangerous. They also say police are still working to identify the caller.
Cuyahoga Heights Schools had a scheduled off day Friday, so they plan to return students to the classroom safely on Monday.
Cuyahoga Heights wasn't the only school district in Ohio to have the school day upended by threats. Withrow University High School in Cincinnati was on lockdown Thursday after receiving threats in the morning. Unlike Cuyahoga Heights, Withrow was able to resume the school day once it was determined there was no actual threat.
