A catalytic converter thief is recovering from a gunshot wound after he encountered a determined furniture store employee.
The incident happened Monday in San Antonio, where the unidentified employee saw a man stealing catalytic converters outside the store he works at, police say. He chased the suspect, they got into a scuffle and then the suspect rammed the employee’s truck with his own vehicle, according to the San Antonio P.D. That’s when the worker pulled out a gun and shot the suspect, police say.
The suspect has been taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for leg injuries, police say. Although the incident was still being investigated as of late Monday morning, a police spokesman confirms that a detached catalytic converter was found at the scene.
