Tickets to see the New York Knicks take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in this Friday’s playoff game at Madison Square Garden are selling for as much as $20,000.
Stubhub is offering courtside seats to Game 3 for $14,986 each, plus an additional $5,251 in “service fees.” That comes out to a total of $20,238. Tickets for less desirable seats range from $1,800 to $12,547 each – not counting the massive service fee, the site reveals. Although Vivid Seats is selling tickets for as low as $448.37 each, they’re for seats in the nosebleed section.
“This exorbitant pricing is being driven exclusively by ticket scalpers who are motivated solely by making money off our fans,” says a spokesman for Madison Square Garden. “All playoff tickets sold by MSG were sold at face value, with ticket prices starting at $168 for the Knicks with an average ticket price of $326. MSG’s mission is, and always has been, to put tickets at their original price directly in the hands of our fans attending our events.”
